Dick Mason Landscape With Dalmatians
Dick Mason (1951-1993) Known for his terrain-scapes, Dick Mason created some of his most breathtaking paintings as he was facing death. He contracted HIV and as his body was trying to fight off the virus, he acquired a pair of Dalmations to keep him company. They became the focus of his art, and are now some of his most recognizable pieces. There is a palpable feeling of calm within these works that also explores the concept of reality and dreams. Mason’s use of the dalmatian’s spots blends so well into his already renowned landscapes which he paints behind them.
