Tomas Lasansky “ANNALISE” # 13 Color Intaglio (Working State)
Since the 1990s Tomas Lasansky has been creating prints, drawings and paintings of iconic figures. This image is an intaglio print, a centuries old process in which each element is etched into a polished metal plate, usually copper. This print has 7 copperplates, each with different designs and colors. Each layer is inked by hand and printed atop the others one at a time onto paper that is placed on the plate and run through an etching press that imparts thousands of pounds of pressure per square inch, transferring the ink to paper. Once each layer is printed, the final image is complete.
