Clarence & Russell Lee Figure Truck Bolo Tie

Clarence & Russell Lee – Navajo Silversmiths and Storyteller Artists
Clarence Lee (1952–2011) and his son Russell Lee (b. 1976) are acclaimed Navajo jewelers known for their whimsical and highly detailed storyteller jewelry. Based in Twin Lakes, New Mexico, the father-son duo developed a signature style using appliqué and sculptural techniques in sterling silver, copper, and brass to depict everyday scenes from reservation life, often infused with humor, nostalgia, and cultural richness.

This three-dimensional sterling silver bolo tie is a perfect example of their collaborative artistry. Designed by Clarence and brought to life with Russell’s help, the sculptural piece features a vintage-style pickup truck with intricate detailing: a driver in the cab, a dog hanging out the window, and a barrel of turquoise cargo in the bed.

Clarence and Russell often worked side by side—Clarence conceptualizing and fabricating the forms, while Russell contributed cut-out figures, finishing work, and later took over the studio following his father’s passing. Together, their creations—like this bolo tie—blend storytelling with fine silversmithing in a way that is both personal and widely collectible.
