Sedalio Fidel Lovato was a respected Kewa (Santo Domingo Pueblo) jeweler known for his handmade tufa cast silver work and precise turquoise inlay. Active primarily in the mid-20th century, Lovato signed his pieces with the hallmark “S.F.L.” His jewelry—often bracelets, cuffs, and concho belts—features bold forms, clean lines, and traditional Pueblo craftsmanship.
This sterling silver pendant and chain showcase Lovato’s artistry, featuring a traditional corn stalk design inlaid with turquoise, coral, lapis, jet, and wood. Two sterling silver dangles accent the base of the pendant, adding movement and detail. The piece is signed S.F.L. on the reverse and reflects the cultural symbolism and technical skill that define Lovato’s legacy.

We recently came across an old photograph of the late Zuni jeweler Myron Panteah (b.1966-2016) holding one of his creations — the bracelet you see here.

Myron was one of the most sought-after Zuni artists of his generation. He began making jewelry as a young boy, learning from his grandfather, and carried forward that legacy with a voice entirely his own. His work is celebrated for blending traditional storytelling with a contemporary design, often drawing inspiration from petroglyphs.

This sterling silver bracelet is a great example of his style of jewelry. Designed after a Maiden figure, it features petroglyph-inspired cutouts, a raised 14k gold accent, and a turquoise face.

Pieces like this remind us why Myron’s art continues to resonate: they are stories captured in metal and stone, carrying forward Zuni traditions while embracing modern design.

This is a sterling silver bolo tie on a black leather cord with sterling silver tips by Hopi jeweler Don Supplee. Don made this bolo as a stylized Hopi Longhair Kachina. He hand-carved the jet to resemble the hair and inlaid the figure with turquoise coral and lapsi at varying heights, adding depth and dimension, all set inside a sterling silver wax cast frame with stair-step designs. Below the kachina figure is an accented inlaid piece set with turquoise, coral, and lapis.
