“I love gardening. To me, this spiderweb turquoi “I love gardening. To me, this spiderweb turquoise feels like a leaf—or lichen. I wanted to complement that natural beauty, so I created a red patina on the copper by heating it to cherry red, then quenching it in borax water—several times.” - Liz Wallace

This is a beautiful sterling silver bolo tie by Liz Wallace, a Navajo/Maido and Washoe jewelry designer. She incorporated a floral design with copper-textured red petals and center-set pearls around a large natural turquoise stone. At the top, Wallace added accent stones of azurite, lapis, and coral, then accented the tips with dangling caterpillars, all with hand-stamped designs on a brown leather cord.

Loloma, Charles (1921-1991) This bracelet is an Loloma, Charles (1921-1991)

This bracelet is an example of contemporary Native American inlay in a sterling silver bracelet handmade by the Father of Contemporary American Indian jewelry, Hopi artist Charles Loloma—one of the most influential Hopi jewelers of the 20th century. The bracelet features inlaid stones, including turquoise, coral, lapis lazuli, ironwood, fossilized ivory, and the use of fine-line gold and silver accent spacers. Using natural materials and bold contrasts is a hallmark of Loloma’s style. This is a classic inlaid bracelet, where each stone fits precisely into place, creating a textured feel styalized to resemble the desert landscape of the Hopi Mesa.
