Al Nez is a self-taught Navajo jeweler who has spent most of his career tufa casting. Al made these 14k gold earrings from tufa stone and cast them in gold. He added high-grade Morenci turquoise stone and set them in a gold serrated bezel. Over the years, Al has won numerous awards for his Navajo-style jewelry. These are post-earrings but can be converted to a clip.

These are very detailed sterling silver tufa cast

These are very detailed sterling silver tufa cast earrings by Ric Charlie. Ric has perfected the art of tufa casting which is the process of reverse carving your design into tufa stone. Tufa is a volcanic ash commonly found on the Navajo Reservation. These earrings resemble a stylized Navajo Yei mask with triangular lapis stone eyes and circular sugilite stones as the mouth. The texture is amazing as well as the colored patina Ric achieved. These earrings are post and signed RC (Ric Charlie).

Nineteen strands of red Mediterranean coral beads

Nineteen strands of red Mediterranean coral beads beautifully accented by three strands of freshwater pearls by Master Hopi jeweler Sonwai (Verma Nequatewa). She accented throughout the strands pink coral, turquoise, and fine gold disk spacers. The 18k gold cones are handmade tufa cast with a morning star design, gold dots, and a single Lone Mountain turquoise stone. You can see Sonwai’s hallmark on the gold hook clasp. Today, Sonwai is still active at Hopi, continuing her uncle Charles Loloma’s traditions and their family history of making wearable art.
