The Avanyu is a Sea Serpent highly revered in American Indian culture. It represents protection, supernatural power, and revival. Avanyu is a waterways guardian known for protecting the Pueblo people. The earliest known representations of Avanyu date back to 1000 AD and are depicted on pottery.
