Whtie Buffalo
White Buffalo, also known as Mike Perez, is an award-winning Comanche/Aztec silversmith whose work has earned national recognition for its extraordinary craftsmanship and timeless design. With more than 30 years of experience, his pieces reflect a powerful blend of tradition, innovation, and personal vision.
Known for his masterful engraving, clean lines, and bold silver forms, White Buffalo’s work often incorporates high-grade turquoise, coral, jet, and lapis. Each piece is meticulously constructed, balancing contemporary aesthetics with techniques passed down through generations.
In 1976, his work won Best of Indian Market in Santa Fe, and he has taken home awards in every category at the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. In the 1980s, he was honored with the title Grand Master of Silver by Handy & Harmon, the world’s largest silver refiner at the time. In the 1990s, White Buffalo was invited to participate in the DeBeers International Diamond Competition, placing him among some of the world’s most elite jewelers.
Today, his legacy continues with his son Al Perez, who works closely alongside him, marking five generations of silversmithing in the family. Their collaborative work carries forward a tradition built on excellence, integrity, and artistic vision.
Faust Gallery is proud to represent White Buffalo, whose jewelry honors the past while shaping the future of Native American contemporary art.
