Don Supplee was born in Ganado and grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona, near the Hopi Reservation. The son of two teachers, he was encouraged from an early age to pursue his dreams. It was while observing the jewelry making of his older brother, the acclaimed silversmith Charles Supplee, that Don became fascinated by the intricate creative process—and found his calling.

Working with metal fabrication, inlay, and the ancient method of tufa (volcanic rock) casting, the budding artist quickly began to develop a style entirely his own. An exceptional craftsman with a natural eye for design, Don creates exquisite jewelry in both silver and gold, enhanced by diamonds and other precious stones as well as traditional turquoise.

Don's talent has earned wide recognition. He has garnered numerous awards at the Annual Inter-Tribal Ceremonial in Gallup, New Mexico, been written up by national magazines such as Arizona Highways, and been discussed in books including Art of the Hopi by Jerry and Lois Jacka. Carrying forward the same family legacy of craftsmanship that shaped his brother Charles, Don Supplee continues to create wearable art that honors Hopi tradition while pushing it in bold new directions—work sought after by collectors around the world.
