“The Desert Tile Necklace” is a turquoise pendant “The Desert Tile Necklace” is a turquoise pendant necklace by Navajo designer Mia Zaara Hamdouni. Cushion-shaped cabochons of Sleeping Beauty turquoise fit together like tiles, each set in its own 14k gold bezel. Bezel-set round diamonds and two small panels of pavé diamonds fill the spaces between the stones. As a result, the pendant reads as one bright, sculptural pattern. Raymond Yazzie divided the stones with fine lines of gold, accenting each channel of inlay. From the center, deep oxidized lines radiate across the silver like rays of light. He cuts his own stamps and hammers every piece by hand, and you can see it in the depth of the pattern. Made in 2017, signed and dated inside. Size 6 with a 1½ in. opening.
