Dave Newman is a nationally recognized mixed-media and acrylic artist whose work celebrates American nostalgia, pop culture, and the iconic imagery of the Southwest. A self-taught artist originally from Anaheim, California, Dave draws deep inspiration from mid-century design, vintage advertising, music, road signs, and historic architecture — transforming these themes into layered “time capsule” artworks that blend storytelling with visual punch.

Now based in Placitas, New Mexico after more than two decades in Prescott, Arizona, Dave creates dynamic mixed-media collage constructions using his original photography, reclaimed wood and metal, vintage postcards, maps, and 20th-century print ephemera. These richly textured compositions reflect his fascination with the past while keeping a bold, contemporary edge.

In addition to his collage work, Dave paints vivid acrylics — ranging from stylized birds and landscapes to cultural icons and Americana motifs. His signature use of color, texture, and balance creates a style that is instantly recognizable and emotionally resonant.

“I want people to draw their own conclusions when looking at my work. I want them to look and look again, because there is always something else to see.”
