Romero, Mike Bird Sterling Silver Bracelet “Spiny Oyster & Turquoise”

$2,295.00

Spiny Oyster and Turquoise Cuff Bracelet

This Mike Bird Romero spiny oyster bracelet sets a bold grid of square spiny oyster shell stones across the top of a wide sterling silver cuff. Mike Bird Romero arranged the stones in five rows inside a tall silver bezel, then finished one end with a single bar of turquoise. A line of twisted silver wire runs along the base of the bezel. Below, the cuff opens into separate silver bands, some stamped, some plain, and one set with a row of domed silver beads.

Metal — Sterling silver

Stones — Spiny oyster shell with a turquoise accent

Design — Five rows of square stones in a silver bezel with twisted wire accent; multi-band cuff

Size — 5⅜, with a 1¼ in. opening

Width — 1¾ in., tapering to 1¼ in.

A Mike Bird Romero Spiny Oyster Bracelet in Sterling Silver

The color is the first thing you notice. Each square of spiny oyster shell glows a rich orange-red, and each one is cut with a soft, domed top. As a result, the grid catches light stone by stone. Meanwhile, the turquoise bar at one end adds a cool contrast and keeps the design from feeling uniform.

The silverwork rewards a closer look. For example, the stamped bands carry fine repeated marks, while the beaded band adds rhythm down the center of the cuff. In addition, the open spaces between the bands make the wide cuff feel lighter on the wrist. The bracelet is a size 5⅜ with a 1¼ in. opening, and it tapers from 1¾ in. at the top to 1¼ in. at the ends.

About Mike Bird Romero

Mike Bird Romero was born in 1946 at Ohkay Owingeh, formerly San Juan Pueblo, in New Mexico. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, he taught himself silversmithing, inspired by jewelers such as Julian Lovato and Mark Chee. He pours his own ingot silver, carves tufa molds by hand, and makes many of his own stamps. His work is held by the Heard Museum, the Wheelwright Museum, and the British Museum. Today, a Mike Bird Romero spiny oyster bracelet like this one shows his skill with both stone and silver.

Bracelet Sizing Guide: How to Measure Your Wrist for the Perfect Fit

Choosing the right bracelet size is essential for both comfort and style. Whether you’re purchasing a cuff or a link design, our simple guide below will help you measure your wrist accurately and find the ideal fit.

Step-by-Step: How to Measure Your Wrist

You only need a flexible measuring tape, a strip of paper, or a string.

Option 1: Using a Flexible Measuring Tape

  1. Wrap the tape snugly around your wrist just above the wrist bone (the area where you would normally wear a watch).
  2. Note the measurement in inches or centimeters.
  3. This is your wrist size.

Option 2: Using a String or Strip of Paper

  1. Wrap the string or paper around your wrist in the same location (above the wrist bone).
  2. Mark the point where the string overlaps.
  3. Lay the string flat and measure it with a ruler.
  4. This is your wrist size.

Choosing the Right Fit

Different bracelet styles may fit differently. Here’s a general guideline based on the style of bracelet:

Cuff Bracelets (Non-Adjustable)

Cuffs should fit snugly but comfortably. We recommend adding 1/4″ to 1/2″ to your wrist measurement depending on your desired fit:

  • Snug Fit: Add 1/4″
  • Comfort Fit: Add 1/2″

Example: If your wrist measures 6", a cuff bracelet that is 6 1/4" to 6 1/2" total (including the opening) would be ideal.

Chain or Link Bracelets

For flexible bracelets with clasps:

  • Add 1/2″ to 3/4″ to your wrist measurement for a comfortable fit.
  • A looser fit can be achieved by adding up to 1 inch.
