Boyd Tsosie Turquoise Earrings in Sterling Silver

About Boyd Tsosie

Boyd Tsosie is a Navajo jeweler, born in 1954, who began making jewelry at sixteen. He refined his silversmithing under Kenneth Begay at Navajo Community College. In the 1970s, he and his brother Richard Tsosie were part of a new wave of Native American jewelers, and in 1979 Arizona Highways featured them in its collector’s edition “The New Look in Indian Jewelry.” Known for impeccable craftsmanship and intricate inlay, his work has been shown in “Jewels of the Southwest” at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe and appears in books by Jerry and Lois Jacka and Lois Sherr Dubin. Today, a pair of Boyd Tsosie turquoise earrings is a wearable example of that inlay.
